I wanted to write a quick note to say a special THANK YOU for a fantastic experience. Your warmth, kindness, knowledge and above all, great humour made our experience in San Francisco truly special.

We really had the best time and so enjoyed seeing your special vision of San Francisco, which I know we wouldn’t have otherwise experienced. Everything from Chinatown to the Castro was so much fun, as well as riding around town in your “comfy red mobile.” Your personal touches throughout the day were so appreciated.

To be completely honest, I have never, ever been satisfied with a “tour” of a place I have never been. After 30 years of visiting San Francisco I considered myself a local and felt pretty much at home. The girls at Carried Away definitely expanded my horizons. I was taken down little alleys that I would never have known existed, introduced to a bakery that I never wanted to leave and was driven down tiny winding streets looking at houses that were just gorgeous. I am a local to SF and pride myself on knowing a lot about the city, especially “the paths less taken.” I wanted to surprise a friend for her 40th and took her on the “City Sampler” — Vikki and Dianne took us on the most spectacular little trip — a perfect balance of food and sights and shopping. they hit the nail on the head with EVERY stop and managed to take us to places (and a lot of them!) that neither of us had ever been to. a fantastic day and thanks to them I feel so much smarter about my own city (and plan on returning to every single place we went to). So — my husband and I have been coming to SF for 30+ years 2-4 times a year — so yes we love it. We do the same old things everytime we come — but we love it. This visit we decided to expand our horizons and booked the Snackers Delight Tour with Carried Away — we started with chocolates in the Tenderloin then on to the Mission district for Goood Fricken Chicken and then Tacos, and Pizza — let me tell you that when we first started going to SF we were told do not venture south of Market — so for 30 years we have followed those instructions — boy was that a mistake!! We finished our snacking with Chinese and Japanese — again in areas that we had never ventured to before — we now have a whole list of places that will get us out of our rut of North Beach every night!!! We now can’t wait to return in Oct and revisit our new finds there — thanx to Carried Away. Who would have thought that after 30 years we would need a tour — Thank you so much for the wonderful time Carried Away!

Such a wonderful experience! We wish we did the tour on the first day for longer. The ladies who gave us the tour were awesome! They made us feel special and the tour felt personalized. After the tasting, they made us dinner reservations at NOPA and drove us all around for an up-close-and-personal tour of the city.

The two tour ladies gave us an inside look at San Francisco Culture that we probably wouldn’t have access to otherwise. The two of them made us absolutely want to return to San Francisco. We felt like we were hanging out with two of our good friends.

My birthday surprise “Snacker’s Delight” outing exceeded my expectations—I had heard and read fabulous things about Carried Away, so I knew it would be nice, but…wow.

Dianne and Vikki exuded genuine enthusiasm and joy for the whole outing, but in a relaxed manner, combined with confidence, smartness, and care. I guess “attention to every detail” is a cliché, but, really, it counts and makes a difference when, for example, there is careful driving, expert navigating and seemingly easy parking. At each destination, the Ladies had an unobtrusive and friendly approach to proprietors and the space, so we eased in as if we were regulars. It was terrific being nurtured and pampered in a low-key, relaxed way.

They made every moment count, always able to point out an interesting sight, tell a great story, answer questions. There was no wasted time, but plenty of leisure time—perfect pacing. We did so much—thanks, of course, to the perfect planning and efficiency on the Ladies part. At one point I thought I saw Dianne a ways behind, but suddenly there she was, already at our destination, already with a table waiting for us! Magic? Or…these people are just that good.

Of course the destinations were fantastic. I kept saying over and over, “How did you find this place”? I can’t believe that in one day I got to devour the best taco I’ve ever had, savor the yummiest cookie I’ve ever had, and taste-test fine chocolates to the point of knowing exactly what I prefer in a salted chocolate covered caramel. Each destination was like opening a present. Happy birthday to me, indeed.

Maybe the best part of the day was that it really isn’t over. We learned so much about these places and areas, and now we get to go back, and back again, on our own to try other tasty things at these great spots, and try other places they pointed out and recommended along the way. We only did one outing, but now we have several outings we can do on our own. Although…I do believe another Carried Away outing is in the future—those birthdays just keep on comin’ around.

Michael and I want to thank Carried Away for planning our date night on Saturday. We were finally able to make the most of our time (and really, the $$$ we pay a babysitter). You really are wonderful to spend time with and your easy of way of sharing your knowledge of everywhere we went made the afternoon fly past. I found myself looking ahead to the end of the itinerary hoping we weren’t about to reach the last stop on our tour, just because I didn’t want it to end.

The Flex was the perfect way to get around. Big enough that we could relax inside but small enough that parking was generally easy and the little touches like water and wet wipes (and purell of course) were just right.
